Our Story

March 11, 1982 marked only one of many national championships for the University of North Carolina. With just 15 seconds left, #23 did what Tar Heels do best. He made history. Tar Heels everywhere felt that rush that only a Carolina fan can truly understand. Thousands met on Franklin Street with fires blazing to bear witness to the fact that Carolina had, once again, made history.

In celebration, Tar Heel prints were painted on each of the four main roads leading into campus. Enemies would fear us on their way in, and Tar Heels everywhere would know that seeing those heel prints meant they were back home. Each artery towards the heart of campus was marked, defining our territory as Carolina took the world by storm. Sadly, just as Franklin Street returned to normal, slowly the heel prints did too. Soon they were nothing more than a myth; an urban legend, forgotten to a majority of fans despite the pride and joy they brought to those fortunate enough to see them.
